The Best Fitness Workouts for Men

Men and women have different bodies. It is certainly true that a muscle is a muscle, regardless of your gender, but what you want to achieve with those muscles is, in general, different for men and women. There are exceptions and the female bodybuilding community is certainly growing, but in general, women want to tone up whereas men want to grow big. Because of this, fitness workouts for men are often different than those for women. Not because a woman would be incapable of taking part in that workout, but because she wants different results. Similarly, it is unlikely that you will see many men in a Zumba class. They can do Zumba, but they would rather do something that rips their body. Let’s take a look at some fantastic ideas around fitness workouts for men.

 The 300 Workout

If you have seen the movie 300, you will remember just how amazing the bodies of the soldiers in those films looked. That’s what we all want to be able to look like, if at all possible. As it turns out, it is possible. The men in the 300 movie weren’t photoshopped, they really look like that. Now, the 300 workout is available to you and it has been reviewed by Men’s Health as well.

“Butler’s training for 300 simultaneously built muscle, increased muscular endurance, and stripped fat fast. To achieve movie muscles that pop, he and other cast members used this gruelling, unorthodox 300-rep rite of passage.”

Is it hard work? You bet your bottom dollar it is, but the results are worth it. You will sweat, you will hurt and you may even cry. But one day, you will wake up and see that you have become a Spartan yourself.

 CrossFit

Another exciting new workout for men is the CrossFit. Reviewed by Canoe.

“CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that improves fitness through intensive, physically demanding workouts. […] It takes the best of weightlifting, gymnastics, and monostructural exercises-running, skipping, or rowing-and combine it into an effective conditioning program that will increase various aspects of fitness like strength, power, speed, stamina, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, coordination, agility, and balance.”

One of the greatest things about CrossFit is that it is great for existing athletes, including military veterans, and celebrity fitness gurus like Bob Harper, trainer from The Biggest Losers. There are also programs for women, as experienced by Jessica Biel and Mallory Hagam, the current Miss America. However, it isn’t just for competitive people, but also for people who simply want to work out and grow a bit in muscle. That is the perfection of CrossFit: it is great for those who want to lose a bit of weight and tone up, but it is equally great for people who want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

 The Absolute Mass Builder

Next, there is the Absolute Mass Builder, known as a one-off workout. This workout contains just five moves, but they will truly make you bulk up fast and blow out your upper body. Reviewed by Men’s Fitness.

“Some may have set their resolutions to lose a few pounds, but others are looking to take advantage of the bundled-up winter months for packing on more mass for their big reveal in summer 2013.”

The routine will pack mass all over your body, even in those areas where we usually struggle to gain any real muscle. The first move is the Pec Fly, where you will have to do two sets of some 15 reps. Next, there is the Incline Hammer Press, where you will do four sets of five reps. The third move is the Decline Hammer Press, two sets of some eight reps. Move number four is the Fascia Facing Push Up, two sets of however many reps you can take. The last move is the Overhead Dumbbell Pullover, two sets of around 15 reps. You will feel it and it will burn, but the results are beyond imagination.

 Real Men Doing Real Workouts

It is likely that you look up to a certain actor or real athlete. Think, for instance, of football players. They are in tip top shape and they are seriously buffed up. How do they do this when they don’t play all year long? By having off season workouts. You can do these too. They are not designed to make you look as big as Stallone, but they will work. Everybody needs a bit of rest too and these types of workouts are great to help you maintain your amazing shape once you have achieved this. Beaumont Enterprise followed Orangefield football players during their workouts.

“During a physical education period, they climbed stadium bleachers, they flipped truck tires, they ran circuits in the weight room, and then finished up by running a lap around the football stadium.”

It was hard work and the players were sweating. But that is what is needed during periods that they don’t mix their regular workouts with actual games. In order to stay in the best condition possible, they have to work out when we think they are living it large and enjoying the off season.

As you can see, there are some fantastic workouts out there for you. Finding the best workout for you is an individual decision based on the results you want to achieve. Take the time to look into supplements and protein shakes as well. They are fantastic tools to help you bulk up even more and to help your body recover after a fanatic workout. Recent scientific research has demonstrated that a soy-dairy supplement may just be the best type, since they continue to work for far longer in helping your body recover. Last but not least, make sure you have a rest day as well. The official recommendation is to work out for three days, have a day of rest, work out for two days and have another day of rest. Pushing your body to its limits is good, but pushing it past that will be too much.
